WHAT IS PHOTOPOLYMER GRAVURE

For a while now, artists who produce traditional photogravures have been looking for a less toxic way of making plates that don’t required acids or caustic dichromates. I use a readymade plate that is coated with a polymer. These plates are then inked and run through an etching press the same way as traditional Copperplate Photogravures are. The results can produce prints that have an even better tonality than traditional Photogravure. The prints are made on archival, acid free watercolor paper using etching inks and is considered the most archival way of printing.
